Top 5 Caribbean Islands for a Luxury Getaway in 2025

By the O.M.G. Resorts Travel Team • January 22, 2025 • 6 min read

The Caribbean remains one of the world's premier destinations for luxury travelers, and 2025 is shaping up to be an exceptional year. New resort openings, expanded airline routes, and a renewed focus on sustainable tourism have made these islands more appealing than ever. Whether you are seeking seclusion, adventure, or pure indulgence, these five islands deliver an experience that transcends the ordinary.

1. St. Lucia

St. Lucia tops our list for its dramatic volcanic landscape, lush rainforests, and some of the Caribbean's most exclusive resorts. The twin Piton peaks create a backdrop that no other island can match. Luxury here means cliff-side villas with private infinity pools, farm-to-table dining sourced from the island's fertile interior, and world-class spas that draw on volcanic mineral springs. Our own St. Lucia Oceanfront Villas sit on the island's southwestern coast, offering guests butler service and uninterrupted views of the Pitons from every room.

2. Turks and Caicos

Grace Bay Beach consistently ranks among the world's best beaches, and for good reason. The sand is impossibly soft, the water is a shade of turquoise that looks retouched in photographs but is entirely real. Providenciales has seen a wave of new luxury development without losing its laid-back character. The island excels at understated elegance — think barefoot dinners on the beach, private boat charters through the cays, and some of the finest bone fishing in the Western Hemisphere.

3. Anguilla

Anguilla is the Caribbean's best-kept secret for discerning travelers who value privacy and culinary excellence above all else. The island has more acclaimed restaurants per capita than almost anywhere in the region, many of them beachfront and chef-owned. The beaches are pristine and uncrowded, the pace is slow, and the hospitality is genuine. It is the kind of place where you learn the bartender's name on the first night and feel like a local by the third.

4. Barbados

Barbados offers a depth of experience that many Caribbean islands cannot match. Beyond its beautiful west coast beaches and excellent surf breaks on the east coast, the island has a thriving cultural scene, centuries of history, and a food culture rooted in Bajan tradition. The luxury hotel corridor along the Platinum Coast features some of the region's most storied properties. Barbados also has excellent direct flight connectivity from North America and Europe, making it one of the most accessible Caribbean destinations.

5. St. Barts

St. Barts has long been the playground of the international jet set, and its appeal shows no signs of fading. The island combines French sophistication with Caribbean ease — boutique shopping in Gustavia, Michelin-caliber dining, and beaches that feel like private coves. The villas here are among the most luxurious in the world, many with dedicated staff and panoramic ocean views. Peak season is exclusive and electric, but the shoulder months of April and May offer the same beauty with fewer crowds and better rates.

Each of these islands offers a distinct flavor of Caribbean luxury. The best choice depends on your priorities — adventure, cuisine, seclusion, or culture. Whichever you choose, the Caribbean in 2025 promises an experience that lingers long after you return home.

Planning the Perfect Honeymoon: A Complete Guide

By the O.M.G. Resorts Travel Team • December 10, 2024 • 7 min read

Your honeymoon is one of the most anticipated trips you will ever take. It is a chance to decompress after the whirlwind of wedding planning, to celebrate your partnership, and to create the first great adventure of your married life. Getting it right takes more planning than many couples expect, but the payoff is a trip you will talk about for decades.

Start Planning Early

Begin researching destinations and resorts at least six to nine months before your wedding date. Popular honeymoon properties fill up quickly, especially during peak travel seasons. If you are eyeing a specific resort or villa type, early booking also gives you the best selection and often the best rates. Many luxury resorts, including all O.M.G. Resorts properties, offer dedicated honeymoon packages that include special upgrades and experiences — but these are often limited in availability.

Choose the Right Destination for You

Forget what social media suggests you should want. The perfect honeymoon destination is one that matches both partners' interests. If one of you loves adventure and the other craves relaxation, look for destinations that offer both. The Riviera Maya, for example, combines world-class beaches with opportunities to explore ancient Mayan ruins and swim in underground cenotes. Bali pairs serene rice terrace views and yoga retreats with volcano trekking and vibrant cultural experiences.

Consider the Season

Weather can make or break a honeymoon. Research the climate of your chosen destination during your travel dates. The Caribbean's dry season runs from December through April, making it ideal for winter and spring weddings. The Maldives is best visited between November and April. Bali's dry season runs from April to October. Traveling during shoulder season can offer better rates and fewer crowds, but check rainfall patterns carefully.

Invest in Your Accommodation

Your honeymoon is not the trip to cut corners on your room. The right accommodation sets the tone for the entire experience. Look for private villas with plunge pools, suites with ocean views, or overwater bungalows that let you wake up above the sea. The room should feel like a sanctuary — a place you genuinely want to spend time in, not just a place to sleep between activities.

Do Not Over-Schedule

One of the most common honeymoon mistakes is trying to pack too much into every day. You have just survived months of wedding planning and an emotionally intense celebration. Build in buffer days with nothing on the agenda. Some of the best honeymoon moments happen spontaneously — an unplanned sunset walk, a long lunch that turns into an afternoon of conversation, or a lazy morning that stretches past noon.

Communicate Your Preferences to Your Resort

Luxury resorts want to make your honeymoon special, but they need your help to do it well. Share dietary restrictions, anniversary dates, allergies, and any special requests before you arrive. If one of you has a birthday during the trip, let the concierge know. The best properties assign a dedicated coordinator who will reach out weeks in advance to personalize every detail — from pillow preferences to the champagne waiting in your room on arrival.

A great honeymoon is not about perfection. It is about intention, shared experiences, and the space to simply enjoy each other's company in a beautiful setting. Plan thoughtfully, choose a destination that excites both of you, and then let go and enjoy the journey.

Sustainable Luxury: How O.M.G. Resorts Protects Paradise

By the O.M.G. Resorts Sustainability Team • November 5, 2024 • 5 min read

Luxury travel and environmental responsibility are often portrayed as contradictions. The assumption is that five-star experiences require excess — excess water, excess energy, excess waste. At O.M.G. Resorts, we have spent the past decade proving that assumption wrong. In fact, we believe that truly luxurious travel enhances rather than degrades the natural environments that make our destinations so extraordinary.

Coral Reef Restoration

Our most visible conservation initiative is our coral reef restoration program, active at both our Maldives and St. Lucia properties. Working alongside marine biologists and local diving communities, we operate coral nurseries that cultivate heat-resistant coral fragments on underwater frames. Once the fragments reach maturity, they are transplanted to degraded reef sections. To date, we have transplanted over 12,000 coral fragments and seen measurable increases in fish biodiversity around restored areas. Guests can participate in transplanting sessions during their stay — an experience that is both meaningful and unforgettable.

Carbon-Neutral Operations

We are on track to achieve carbon-neutral operations across all four properties by 2027. Our Bali and Riviera Maya resorts already generate over 60 percent of their energy from rooftop solar installations. All guest flights are carbon-offset at no additional charge — we partner with verified offset programs that fund reforestation and renewable energy projects in the regions where we operate. On-property, we have replaced gas-powered vehicles with electric carts, installed energy-efficient HVAC systems, and eliminated single-use plastics entirely.

Local Sourcing and Community Impact

Over 80 percent of the food served across our resorts comes from local farmers, fishers, and producers. Our Bali property takes this a step further with a two-acre permaculture garden that supplies herbs, vegetables, and tropical fruits directly to the kitchen. We pay fair-trade premiums and maintain long-term supplier relationships that provide economic stability for surrounding communities. We also fund hospitality and marine science scholarships for students in each of our destination countries, building a pipeline of local talent for the tourism industry.

Plastic-Free Paradise

Since 2021, all four O.M.G. Resorts properties have been completely free of single-use plastics. Water is served in reusable glass bottles, amenities are provided in refillable ceramic dispensers, and takeaway containers are made from compostable plant fiber. Our annual beach cleanup program, which involves both staff and guests, has removed over two tons of ocean plastic from surrounding coastlines each year. We also partner with local waste management initiatives to improve recycling infrastructure in the communities near our resorts.

What Guests Can Expect

None of these initiatives compromise the guest experience. In fact, many guests tell us that knowing their stay contributes to conservation and community development makes it more meaningful. Organic, locally sourced meals taste better. Solar-powered resorts are just as comfortable. And a coral planting excursion with a marine biologist is a far richer experience than any generic boat tour. Sustainability at O.M.G. Resorts is not a sacrifice — it is a feature.

We do not claim to be perfect. The environmental impact of international travel is real, and we take it seriously. But we believe that luxury hospitality has an obligation to be part of the solution, and we are committed to continuous improvement. The paradise we share with our guests is worth protecting.
